Premises safety checklist

Premises safety checklist

Protecting your premises is important to prevent a trespasser from bringing a claim against you as a result of any injury suffered. Our checklist can provide useful tips to help you do this.

Premises security

Protecting your premises from trespassers is vitally important. However, this isn’t just due to the need to protect your staff and property from harm, but also to reduce the likelihood of a personal injury claim being made against you by a trespasser who injures themself. With this in mind, complete a Premises Safety Checklist as it encourages you to consider all access points.

Using the checklist

This checklist is divided into two parts. The first looks at perimeter security as the best solution is to prevent unwanted access to your property in the first place. You’re asked if your external areas are well lit with no dark spots and if all fencing is in good condition with no gaps. Part two considers the security of your main building and any outhouses. This covers roof areas as well as whether or not access can be gained easily, e.g. through doors or windows. Other questions look at whether you store high value goods on site and what security measures you have in place, e.g. intruder alarms.
