Sanitary and washing facilities checklist

Sanitary and washing facilities checklist

Legislation on workplaces lays down certain standards for sanitary and washing facilities that you’re required to follow. An easy way of ensuring that you’re doing this is to work through our checklist.

Maintaining facilities

The provision and maintenance of washrooms are important for good standards of hygiene, as well as comply with legislation. So why not use a Sanitary and Washing Facilities Checklist? It can go a long way in helping you assess the standard of provision of existing facilities, as well as the adequacy of your cleaning schedules.

Checklist content

The first section of the checklist considers various design issues. This isn’t just for existing facilities, but also to help you plan properly for any future changes that you may make. The eight questions look at various issues to be considered, such as whether or not there’s natural ventilation and if the electrical fittings are protected from moisture and condensation. Section two focuses on the facilities available in your toilets and washrooms, such as adequacy of lighting levels to the availability of soap and drying facilities. The third section is relevant to those with showers as it covers issues such as whether they have devices fitted to prevent scalding and whether they’re cleaned regularly.
