Risk assessment - safe use of ride-on mowers

There are many benefits associated with the use of ride-on mowers. However, the equipment does introduce risks. Use our template document to conduct a risk assessment.

Risks and benefits

With a ride-on mower large areas can be covered quickly, it’s less of a physical strain compared with a pedestrian mower and there’s lower exposure to hand-arm vibration. But you introduce risks by using a vehicle: there’s the potential for collision, plus the noise is significant. All of these factors are considered within our Risk Assessment - Safe Use of Ride-on Mowers.

How to use it
