Emergency lighting

What is emergency lighting?
  • Emergency lighting comes on once the power supply to regular lighting fails. Power failure may occur for a variety of reasons including in the event of fire.
Where is it required?
  • Article 14(2)(h) Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) requires that “emergency routes and exits requiring illumination must be provided with emergency lighting of adequate intensity in the case of failure of their normal lighting”.
