Respiratory protective equipment

Respiratory protective equipment (RPE) comes in many different shapes, sizes, uses and protection levels. The tables below will help you select the correct RPE based on your requirements. It’s important to remember that RPE is not the same as a face covering and the two should not be confused.
RPE is generally split into two groups:
  • Respirators. These use filters to remove contaminants as you breathe through them. They can be powered or non-powered.
  • Breathing apparatus. These use an external supply of clean air from a cylinder or compressor.
